The Faeries

The older faeries come from the legends in classic Engish literature. The Faeries were generally categorized into 4 different sections, by their characteristics: Dwarfs, Goblins, Leprechauns, and Pixies.

Dwarfs

In the Mountains of Scandinavia and Germany, you would find Faeries called Dwarfs. Dwarfs appear short, but are built very strong. It would be very unlikely to see a dwarf during the daytime, because even a single ray of sunlight would turn them into stone. Some people believe that Dwarfs take the form of toads in the daytime. By appearance alone, it would be easy to judge that all Dwarfs are elderly, but this is because they reach maturity at 3 years old. By the time Dwarfs turn 7, they will already have a gray beard. Dwarfs are very sensitive about their feet, because they have unusual deformities. Sometimes they may have goose or crow-shaped feet, or they may be pointing backwards. This is why dwarves usually wear clothing that will cover their feet.

Goblins

Goblins are the thieves and villains of Faeries. They are small, swarthy and malicious, and sometimes take the form of animals. They are refered to as the companions to the dead, especially on Halloween. They are known to tempt people with forbidden Faerie fruits, to bring them into their doom. A Bogie is a name for goblins that have many different shapes. Some Bogie's are dangerous, while others are just mischievous. Some Bogie's have the ability to change their shape. Phooka is a Bogie that has a variety of beast-like forms.

Leprechauns

The Leprechauns are based in Ireland. They are very mischievous and, and they are known to disappear quickly. If you ever come across a Leprechaun, it is important that you see him, before he sees you. This way he will be more cooperative, and you may even be able to pursuede him to lead you to one of his pots of gold. It has been said that sometimes they can be seen spinning like tops, by balancing on their hats. At nighttime, the Leprechaun turns into the Cluricaun. They raid wine cellars, and they are known to take wild rides on the back of sheep, while drunk. Another type of Leprechaun is called a Firdarrig. If you ever come in contact with a Firdarrig, it would be recommended that you humor him in some way, because he enjoys practical jokes in a gruesome manner, and it would be best to be on his good side.

Pixies

Pixies are also known as pisgie, piskie, or pigsey. They are mischievous green creatures from Cornwall, England. They often take the form of hedgehogs, also known in dialect as urchins. Pixies enjoy dancing in the shadows of standing rocks during the day and at night they get in to mischief by stealing horses and ponies, and ride them wildly, and twist and knot-up their manes.
